Thommankuthu brings with it many smaller waterfalls that tumble and gush over a distance of 12 kilometres before descending in seven distinct steps. It belongs to the river Kannadiyaar. There is a pool for every waterfall. Thommankuthu has two equally stunning waterfalls: Thommankuthu and Ezhunilakuthu. Water bodies meander along the less frequented areas of pristine forest.
The hiking trail also has low-hanging branches, gnarled, old trees, caves and tribal settlements. The forests, dense and wild, require some skilled navigating. When you're too tired, stop to rest at any of the huts that are located along the route. Many animals and birds find refuge in this area of the woods. The chirping of birds resounds through the region. Thommankuthu waterfalls and the surrounding forests are a heartening experience.
