Kurisumala, meaning 'Mountain of the Holy Cross', is one of the three famous hills in Vagamon, Thangal Para and Murugan Hill being the other two. Earlier known as 'Kondaketty Mala', Kurisumala is a popular Christian pilgrim spot amidst lush vegetation and dotted tea gardens. The serene, misty and verdant surroundings greatly contribute to the spiritual atmosphere of Kurisumala. It is a space that encourages introspection for every spiritual seeker and also satisfies those who seek adventure.
Worshippers ascend the hill to the church carrying wooden crosses. Regular masses and prayers are conducted here. A Trappist monastery and Vagamon Kurisumala Ashram are situated at the foothills. Kurisumala definitely deserves half a day on your itinerary if you are headed to Vagamon.
